Some mornings, the ground feels like it's moving beneath your feet. Not just metaphorically \u2014 but as if your body, your mind, and your company are still bracing for impact.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In recent days, I\u2019ve woken up wired. Sleepless. Overthinking. As if I\u2019m still hearing sirens. As if I\u2019m still waiting for the next hit. And although the skies are quieter, something inside is still on alert.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And strangely \u2014 this sensation felt familiar. Like the early days of a startup. Like those moments when you move fast, take hits, get advice from every direction, and feel unsure if you\u2019re even moving forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

So we made a hard decision. We paused.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Not because we failed. But because we needed to ask: <\/span>What are we building \u2014 and how do we ground it again?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

  • What kind of startup are we really?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Who exactly is our user, and why do they need us?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Is our MVP solving the root pain, or just scratching the surface?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • How do we work asynchronously \u2014 without losing momentum?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Should we keep bootstrapping or shift gears to raise capital?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Who are our <\/span>true<\/span> design partners \u2014 and are we listening to them?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • What\u2019s our actual runway \u2014 financially, mentally, and emotionally?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • And: What are the 3 milestones that <\/span>must<\/span> define our next quarter?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    \n

    These are not background questions. They <\/span>are<\/span> the strategy. They <\/span>are<\/span> the focus. They are the <\/span>floor beneath our feet<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    And when everything around you is spinning \u2014 sometimes the bravest thing you can do is <\/span>stop, breathe, and rebuild clarity<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    1. Pause weekly for strategic reflection<\/span> \u2013 even 30 minutes can change your trajectory.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Don\u2019t confuse motion with momentum<\/span> \u2013 progress requires direction.<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Re-map your user\u2019s pain<\/span> \u2013 their world may have shifted.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Plan in 10-day sprints<\/span> \u2013 short cycles create clarity.<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Asynchronous = clarity of ownership<\/span> \u2013 define who leads what.<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. Protect your top 3 priorities<\/span> \u2013 everything else is noise.<\/span><\/li>\n
    7. Monitor your burn rate \u2014 and your burnout rate.<\/span><\/li>\n
    8. Have real conversations with your design partners<\/span> \u2013 ask, listen, adapt.<\/span><\/li>\n
    9. If you\u2019re fundraising: focus. If you\u2019re not: validate like hell.<\/span><\/li>\n
    10. Talk to your team about fear<\/span> \u2013 shared truth builds real trust.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
