Day 398 out of 1095. That’s where I am in this journey. Building a startup isn't just about code, traction, or market fit. Sometimes, it’s about staying conscious during a pitch, when your body is screaming to shut down.
Since October 7th, 2023, my team and I have been on a mission – one born not out of opportunity, but necessity. We lost friends, we lost our sense of safety. But we found something else – a deep commitment to help others like us, those who serve and protect, to stay mentally resilient.
Our startup, WalkImpact, is not just tech. It’s personal. It’s built on the idea that resilience isn’t silence – it’s movement.
We’re developing LaVie AI, a Web app and WhatsApp-based AI that helps security forces manage early trauma symptoms – through movement, mindfulness, and daily micro-actions. It’s not a therapy replacement. It’s a first line of defense. A way to stay standing, before the system collapses.
But here’s the real challenge: When I pitch this – I freeze. I’ve spoken in front of crowds before. I’ve led teams under pressure. But this? Talking about trauma, my own and others', while asking for funding – it’s another level.
I’ve received tough feedback:
- "Explain why walks and breathing are worth $20 a month."
- "Why would companies pay for this?"
- "What makes you think this won’t be just another expensive gadget?"
Each question hits hard. Because this is not a product I can distance myself from. It’s me. My story. Our story.
- Storytelling is a muscle – and mine needs daily work.
- Emotional connection is powerful – but only when grounded in data.
- Confidence comes from clarity – when I know exactly who we’re helping and how.
Here’s some of that clarity:
- 1 in 14 suffers from PTSD globally (WHO, 2023).
- 70% won’t get help in time.
- In Israel, hundreds of thousands are at risk after Oct 7.
We’re not here to fix everything. But we believe that if we help one person avoid the dark spiral – we’ve done something real.
