Day 261 of 1,095: If It’s Not on the Calendar, It Doesn’t Exist
Today was a masterclass in time management—or rather, the consequences of poor planning. Unexpected changes in my schedule sent ripples through my entire week, underscoring a truth I’ve come to live by: if it’s not on the calendar, it doesn’t exist.
In the chaos of building a startup, where every hour feels like it carries the weight of a thousand decisions, I’ve learned that my calendar is more than a tool—it’s a survival strategy.
Yesterday, I picked up a new trick: color-coding my calendar.
Tasks, meetings, and deep work sessions each have their own color. Suddenly, my day transformed from a crowded timeline to a clear map of priorities. It’s amazing how such a simple shift can change your perspective, helping you focus on what truly matters and spot the gaps before they become bottlenecks.
A Few Questions to Ponder:
1. Do you treat your calendar as a strategic tool or just a to-do list?
2. How do you create breathing room between back-to-back meetings?
3. Are 30-minute meetings productive—or do they just “pass the screen test”?
Personally, I’ve realized the 5-minute gaps between meetings are often the most critical moments of the day. They’re where I process, recalibrate, and catch my breath—but they’re also the first thing to disappear when the schedule gets tight.
What about you? How do you protect your most valuable resource—time?
Let me know in the comments. Your insights might just inspire someone (myself included) to rethink their approach.
Here’s to more productive, meaningful days ahead!
