Building a startup is a marathon, not a sprint. Today, I was reminded of the value of learning from those who have worked closely with our potential partners. What started as a few reference calls quickly turned into a masterclass in navigating challenges, identifying alignment, and understanding the unspoken dynamics of collaboration.

These conversations weren’t just about verifying facts or getting a "green light." They were about listening between the lines, asking the hard questions, and digging into the nuances of partnership dynamics:

 

  • How do they handle tough situations?
  • What traits or habits make or break the relationship?
  • What blind spots should we address now to avoid friction later?

 

It became clear that these insights go beyond this specific deal—they offer lessons that can elevate our overall approach to building partnerships and leading the startup forward.

Yesterday, we faced a metaphorical earthquake—one of those inevitable moments that shakes the foundation of your plans. And yet, today we moved forward. Progress isn't about avoiding the tremors; it's about how quickly you adapt, learn, and improve after they hit.

Startups—and life—are iterative. The faster you refine and adjust, the better your chances of staying ahead. These reference calls reinforced one critical principle: resilience and adaptability are the ultimate competitive advantages.

Challenges will come, and mistakes are unavoidable. But success isn’t defined by the absence of difficulties; it’s defined by how you face them. Today reminded me of the power of learning from others’ experiences, applying those lessons, and doubling down on progress.
