Releasing Bureaucracy and Authority Where It’s Not Needed – Day 331 of 1,095

The team met at the office, synced up on where everyone stood, and locked in a launch date for our first product version. Simple, effective, and most importantly—everyone left with clarity, ready to execute.

After that, we grabbed lunch outside. The sun was out, and for a moment, the stress of deadlines, execution, and war-related distractions faded.

Then, the contrast hit me.

Later in the day, I was dealing with matters related to the ongoing war, and it struck me again—the massive gap between a small, focused, mission-driven team (like a startup) and the overwhelming reality of large bureaucratic organizations.

In a startup, decisions are fast. Everyone is deeply invested. You do what needs to be done—no unnecessary approvals, no red tape. In large organizations, it’s a different story. Endless tasks. Bureaucracy. Lack of coordination. Politics. And ultimately, a service that suffers because everyone is just trying to survive their own role rather than move the mission forward.

Not because they’re bad people. Far from it.

But because the system itself is exhausting, stressful, and often makes you feel like there’s no way out.

Sometimes, the best way is not to fight the system head-on but to find the right people—those who care, those who make things move despite the constraints. Focus on small, meaningful impact where you can. And let go of the rest.

This isn’t easy. It’s a practice. A mindset shift. And one of the hardest skills to master.

So here’s my question to you: Where have you felt stuck in bureaucracy or rigid authority? And how did you find a way to move forward?

Let’s share ideas—because if there’s one thing we know from startups, it’s that there’s always a way.
