Two days. That's all it took to reset my system—body, mind, and spirit.
After weeks of running through what felt like a hurricane—back-to-back meetings, investor calls, late-night product pivots—I realized I wasn’t operating at my best. Worse: I was on autopilot.
So I did the one thing that felt most counterintuitive as a founder: I unplugged.
Not a week in Bali (though tempting). Just 48 hours. Enough to hear my own thoughts again.
And here's what I’ve learned—entrepreneurship isn’t about going full-throttle all the time. It’s about knowing when to sprint, and when to breathe.
According to Harvard Business Review, over 72% of entrepreneurs report mental health challenges. The cost of ignoring your battery? Burnout, bad decisions, and broken relationships.
So what can a founder really do to reboot in just 2 days?
Here are 10 simple things that worked for me (and might work for you):
- Turn off notifications – Let silence find you.
- Take a long walk without your phone – Let your thoughts wander.
- Do a mini digital detox – No screens for a day. Yes, really.
- Sleep—without guilt – 8+ hours is not a luxury; it’s a reset button.
- Write by hand – Thoughts flow differently when you slow them down.
- Meet people outside your bubble – Talk to someone who isn’t in tech.
- Cook a meal from scratch – No DoorDash. Full presence.
- Do something physical – Swim, yoga, stretch. Let the body process what the mind can’t.
- Reflect on your ‘why’ – Reconnect with what brought you to this journey in the first place.
- Laugh. A lot. – Watch that ridiculous show. Call that funny friend.
These aren't life hacks. They're lifelines. Because showing up as your best founder-self doesn't mean being everywhere all the time. It means being present—and aligned.
So I’ll leave you with a question:
What’s your 48-hour recharge routine? Drop your best tip—I’m always looking to upgrade mine.
